nice iniative for making a flash version. i suggest a custom cursor ( human glove ) that can change depending the action taken on a unit etc.
you could also make the navigation easier by adding stop, attack attacks. the footman could gather gold, and he become invisible when he was heading to the town hall.
For each units, there could be a reason explaining why you cant buy a certain unit, telling what prerequeristies you need ( lumber mill, keep.. ) so you're less confused.
for a better play, there could also be a background music (you can fetch it out war3), interesting terrain art (might be complicated, but atleast it would be better than a bland yellow), a faster fps.

the terrain could've used rivers, mountains, and perhaps rescuable units for the hell of it.
this game have already a rather good score ( it's near 4 ), but it could easily climb more by inserting additionnal emphazis on the gameplay. war2 is a historical 2d game, and it do deserve good tributes :)

but not bad. Graphics were bad, but the original's graphics were bad, too. The sounds got mixed up, I.E. my peasants sometimes sounded like peons, but it was bearable. I couldn't beat it, because I couldn't replace one of my footmen, but otherwise, pretty good, for a flash re-make.

I LOVE Warcraft 2, i loved the graphics because they were from that game, i loved the sound. i did notice a bug, when i clicked on one of my peasents, and then i clicked on the cityhall building, it stayed on the peasent, wouldnt click off him. Other then that great job. oh yeah wait, the textures man, you need textures.

I love Warcraft but this is just a demo version which has a lot of potential to it.

I presume that the original version is by far much better than this. You should indefinitely re-submit it.

My first review

You have the honro of being my first review. Now I love WoW, and have played the first Warcraft. Now I don't know anything about flash or what you can do with it, but you did an excllent job bringing back some nostilagia (SP?) from the first game. The grapgics could be better but then again what can you do with an overhead game? Also the controls, it would have been nice to be able to scroll around the screen using the number pads.

Also for those of you who don't know how to collect wood, click on your peseant then click on the trees and they'll start chopping em down. Its that simple. I got a little bug btw when my peseants got into fights with the orc and two of them died, I started hearing echos of thier deaths over and over.

Ps. It also would be nice if you created a RT strategy flash game that didn't have a copywrited licence, but these are just flashes so I guess its ok.
