You can pause it.
If you right click and hit back it will pause it, then hit play when you are done reading.

It was a bit too short. Also, I'm a fast reader, exceptionally fast, so I kept up, but I'm sure that anyone with an average reading speed wouldn't be able to. It was actually rushed for me.
