Reviews for "To Write Love on Her Arms ."

Love this, beautiful work for a beautiful organisation. TWLOHA <3

Flashmovieboy responds:

I was wondering what is your organisation up to, that "to write love on her arms" stuff ? I never really thought about this message having a wider meaning 0.o but thank you ! :)

Don't listen to these fools. The content is fine. You are entitled to make something that plays on negative emotion. Art is supposed to inspire emotion, it doesn't have to be positive. The point is, its powerful. Never censor your work for anyone, least of all people that need to see a happy ending to enjoy a movie. Great job!

Flashmovieboy responds:

To be honest, I didn't draw this work to express any negative emotion. Actually, all my portraits are quite impersonal in terms of self expression, except that I can express my realistic-observation skills and some of the improvisation, since I cannot draw all the areas from the reference with perfect detail.
For the record, I express my emotions through art when drawing graffiti or abstract designs.

I do like your point. Art has to incite an emotion, positive or negative. When it fails to do none, the artist has failed with the work. Even when your drawing is passionately hated, it is still a better feedback for the artist than a total zero of indifference, but that does not imply that the artist will enjoy being hated. It's a matter of taste :D

Long response -.- anyway, thank you for sharing thoughts ! :)

Technique is good, also like the atmosphere of this piece in overall.
The left eye looks really flat though, maybe there should have been some shadow in the eye white to fix that. And the fingers look a bit wonky at some spots but now i'm kind of nitpicking.
it's a good piece though, keep it up!

Flashmovieboy responds:

Thank you for constructive criticism, I'm glad that you liked the piece :)

I only want to comment on one thing. The eyes, or more specifically, the pupils. You probably already know what I am going to say since you have stared at this piece longer than I have, (or maybe some one else has already brought this up) but the pupils vary too much in size, it makes it look like the girl in the piece has had a hard concussion recently or something. Now, I am gonna take a swing, and guess that this was either (a) an accident, in which case, Ill let you take my criticism with a grain of salt, or it was (b) on purpose, thinking that the shadow from the hair would make the left (her right) pupil bigger, but this is not how pupils work, they calibrate together (try this with your eyes in the bathroom, shade both your eyes from the light, but still look into the mirror, now only uncover one, but watch how the covered one still shrinks). Some people have different sized pupils, but when I say different sized, I mean like the diameter of the pupil would be like 1-2mm wider, a visible difference, but not that visible. HOWEVER, I do think the fact that the highlight on the left eye is brighter than the one on the right, is actually a good touch - I can't attest to its reality, but its an appealing contrast regardless.

Flashmovieboy responds:

I honestly thought that pupils calibrate separately and for the effect, drew to left one bigger. It's helpful that you brought up this issue with the eyes, I'll keep this in mind in future. Thank you for taking time to write some constructive criticism ! :)

on her right eye left eye if ur looking at her ther r no eye lashes uther than that ok job

Flashmovieboy responds:

Actually there shouldn't be eyelashes in the left eye, if it's compared to the left, other than that I didn't really catch what you were trying to say. . . Thanks ! :)
