Indeed. :)
You filled the canvas in a complete and interesting manner -- the top left holds the small star, surrounded by a think dust cloud; the lower right, gloomier, dark, but strangely sends a message of safety from the heat and energy of the inferno nearby, finished with a touch of light from what looks like a distant star.
There is also a bit (at least for me) of intrigue in what looks like a hint of artificial impact in the form of metal and scrap (possible a spaceship); the distant star might not be a star, but a hint of life.
To recap:
Excellent use of juxtaposition -- life, death, fire, darkness, danger, safety.
The lively, active upper-half is bathed in inferno; the gloomy, dead lower-half is cold but a comforting escape from the fires beyond its borders (hinting at life in the process).
The darkness stretches up, slightly, into upper field (where the white light is), and I ask if that was done on purpose to emphasize the idea of hopeful gloom -- preventing it from being completely below the red dwarf?
I love space, and this piece signifies everything that space is (...well space is everything, but that's beside the point) -- bravo!
I may have gone overboard and completely over-analyzed this work, but that, in essence, is the critique's risk -- better to over-analyze than never analyze (as most people don't bother to ever travel to this part of Newgrounds -- it's more than just nonsensical flash animations and games).
You're too kind. But thanks for the over-analyzation, it actually helps. :)
Fascinating, and just plain awesome.
5/5
Thanks!
Holy shiiiiiiiit!
Epic, really good.
Beautifully drawn star with excellent lighting on the surrounding debris, looks really vivid and alive.
Love it!
Thank you. :)
Very cool, looks like some unlucky spaceship or planet with a civilization on it just got too close and got shredded.
