Honest Review
It was an average flash. With what little time was given for each scene to progress the story, I wasn't captivated or engrossed in any way. I think you showed to much gore, it didn't tie in with the rest of the lighting used in the other scenes. It would have been nice to have a few things left to the imagination. For example, I think it would have been more effective to have had a majority of the wife's corpse covered in shadow.
With a title like edge of darkness I was half expecting some kind of supernatural/thriller element in this flash. The first time we see the wife's corpse, I waiting to see if she lifted her head, opened her eyes and moved her mouth to say something to her husband. Instead, we get to look at her corpse.
I think if you expand on this flash a bit more, add a few more scenes in to lengthen it, maybe some expository, you know like the husband grieving over his loss. And don't reveal so much about the killer, because right now he comes across as the millionth psycho I've seen to kill someone with a sword. And he looked like a ninja for some reason. And it might be nice to have a scene or two where we get to witness the victim's demise at the hands of the killer. You have a jack the ripper-esque thing going on where the killer likes to remove parts of people's anatomy. Did these people suffer? Did he kill them instantly? Or did he keep them alive during the "procedure".
Its halloween, I want to be scared!! so quick recap. Don't show so much of the gore, but the correct anatomical nature of the gore was superb. Just add a little bit more story into it, couple of scenes where the main character is broken up over losing his wife, show the killer actually murdering his victims, then I think people would be prompted to care more about the characters. Anyhow, keep making FLASH!!!
