Reviews for "Slowing Time"

Epic

What an epic song dude. The piano at the beginning was beautiful. At first sight, I thought there were way to much reverb but after another listen, I understand that it was excepted. The strings sounded nice too, what software are you using for these orchestral sounds ? I'm noticing that you are using Addictive Drums, you did a nice use of it in that song, though the snare doesn't sounded that good, it has no real power, compress that shit :P. And your cymbals are low - pitch-wise - it sounds good.

Nice guitar work as always, you really got a nice tone with your G2.1u Zoom Pedal. Nice solo in the end, some arpeggios were a bit out of place but it's hard to notice so it's OK. The main chord progression was really cliché and simple but really effective. That chord progression gave the song an Epic feeling, I like it a lot.

I could swear I already heard that chord progression with a similar melody, but I can't remember in what song and when :s. Good job dude! 5'd.

Thanks a loooooot for your review!
Yeah I just wanted something else than a basic fade in for the piano, so I kinda messed around in FLStudio and found this nice reverb effect by accident XD
Also, I didn't use Addictive drums in this track, only Ezdrummer :p That's why the snare sounds that bad! And I'm using GPO for the orchestra!
About the chord progression, yeah it's a very basic pattern I used here, like "Intro, Chorus, Verse, Chorus, Break, Chorus (with solo, just to show of... erm I mean IMPROVE MY SKILLS, yeah that's right) and Outro". The kind of pattern used in each song you ear on radio.
Anyway, thanks again and, about the guitar tone, I now use a Toneport to record my tracks, I find its sound way more precise (now I can quadtrack my songs without having any cracks :o)! I will post some new shit soon, so stay tuned bro' ;)

wicked

TheRealSam responds:

I composed the piano but I didn't play it, each instrument you ear (except for the guitars) were made using VST's. Thanks a lot for the review, and don't worry, more to come! :D

Great Work!!

You know its not real often I call metal beautifull, but this is I love thing You are A real gifted person

TheRealSam responds:

:O Stop it you're embarrassing me :$
Thanks a thousand to you, your review realy made my day! :)

This music reminds me..

of the game music in Chrono Cross, not the heavy stuff mind you, but the soft stuff. But like I said, it only reminds me of it and doesn't sound anything like a knock-off of it. This music in itself would be great for an rpg of some sort. Great stuff man.

TheRealSam responds:

thanks a lot! :) Never played Chrono Cross, but I'll go check it out when I've got time :p
At least the OST ^^
C ya!

Very Very Nice. I envy you, sir

First off, I liked how the guitar wasn't really the main instrument, but rather an integral part of a larger mix... too often the guitar gets the front stage when there's a lot of other cool stuff going on in a song that isn't brought out enough. I also saw how this had silent hill influence, at least just a little.
All in all, it's a very good piece.
I'm curious how long this took you? It would have taken me forever to put something like this together.
Also, how'd you record the various parts? (just curious).

TheRealSam responds:

Well it took me around 3 hours I'd say, I don't know why but when inspiration comes, it's like a constant flow to me. It's like if it was coming from a tap or something, it's comes out of nowhere, fills up my brain and stops suddenly, untill it comes again, maybe some days later. Sometimes I only have to walk a while and change my mind a bit for it to come back, sometimes it's longer. Yeah a lot for my stuff is Silent Hill inspired, or from Nobuo Uematsu's work. Thanks a lot for the review man :)
