Reviews for "Smash bros 2D"

Mediocre at best.

What the hell happened to Samus? She looked all cool at first, and then ... you ran out of sprites? Dude how could Samus get killed so easily? And in one attack? And a character doesn't automatically die at 999%... this blew, you could do much better.

ZyneXx responds:

Its supose to be funny, not realistic towards the game. I perfectly know how SSBM works.

WHAT THE OTHER GUY SAID.

NOT GOOD ON A COOL GAME.

ZyneXx responds:

If you dont like the game, dont bother to review it. This doesnt help me you know.

Generic at best.

What seems to be a good idea (not only for a movie, but for an actual 2D game) fails to deliver because of a poor story and a few things that just don't make sense at all.

When I first clicked on the link to your movie I was hoping for a game, dissappointed that it wasn't a game, I was hoping it wouldn't be just a bunch of sprites mushed together to make a movie...guess I hoped for too much.

Depsite this movies unusually high score, it is nothing more than a simple sprite animation with a poor story, being generic at best.

Lets start with the sprites. You simply ripped sprites from their appropiate games from the internet. But what really bugged me is the switching of Samus's sprite mid-movie. You can't just change sprite styles like that and hope it goes unnoticed...It seems to me you found a better sprite for Samus in the middle of development and you decided to switch sprites cause it looked better to you (even though it looked worse to me.)

The reason why sprites don't work in this movie is because your taking several different sprites from different games and mushing them together. It just didn't fit in, it didn't even feel like super-smash bros.

And for the few sprite animations there was (the menu and gamecube scene) you can tell that you didn't take time in making it feel like smash bros (or your just a poor non-sprite animator.) The menu's consisted of single colored boxes with text, and nothing more.

The story is simple enough, everyone wants to play SSB so they goto a stadium. But the actual battle lasted something like 10 seconds compared to the build up of the rest of the movie. That 10 second battle knocked out characters so quickly you could hardly enjoy what moves you did show of theirs. I understand this was in a way, a parody, but the reason why I watched this movie was to see how SSB would look in 2-d...instead I got a long prolouge with a 10 second battle...not too entertaining.

I suppose the best part about the movie are your sounds. They did blend in well. I especially liked how you had the audience cheering for different characters. The sounds were better done than the rest of your movie.

If your even thinking about considering making more you need to redesign some key aspects and take some time to animate your non-sprites better. Hopefully there will be a longer and more interesting battle in your next installment.

ZyneXx responds:

Eeeer dude, its a sprite movie. So i HAVE to use sprites. And i didnt change the samus sprite. I just used 1 for running. and 1 for fighting. But thanks for some tips. It will help me making part2

Heh... interesting...

it certainly captured SSB in sprite form... :P

I have a question. Who were the secret characters and courses? ^_^;;

ZyneXx responds:

That will be revealed in part 2,
Hint: The badguys :P

ah

coulda been better... who would go up to you and say "super smash brothers?"... ya, i thought so, and whats up with the super-huge delay until the battle... and why was samus's feet under the wood plank?

well whatever nice effor i guess

ZyneXx responds:

eeeh ok
