Reviews for "Mr Flacit's Word Search"

A Liljim & Stamper Tag Team Production!

Excellence. I never would have expected to hit refresh on the portal and be confronted with a flash made by both of you... especially a WORD GAME flash. Awesomeness.

I love the look, the sound (5 songs from the audio portal? Greatness), the Jose Ortiz touch in the form of Mr. Flacit... it's all good. The animation between rounds and when you're pulling up the instructions and so forth is good, though a bit laggy on my computer.

And of course, the gameplay itself is great. I don't know if either of you has played Word Whomp on the Pogo site (you get a random draw of 6 letters and have to form as many 3, 4, 5, or 6 letters-long words from them), but this reminds me of that with the added component of "range," and yes, is thus similar to other games as others have pointed out. But anyway...

I have just ONE problem with it. And perhaps it's exacerbated by my old computer, but... the rounds take so long that if you have a bad draw (tons of Ws, Hs, Cs, Ks, etc. etc... and few vowels within reach, as I just had on my first round) and have pretty much exhausted all word possibilities... you end up going off and doing something else for more than a minute. A difficult-to-click-by-accident "end round" button would be VERY VERY nice to have. As it is, each round is fun, and then I'm done with around half the meter yet to run out. That's my single, only, solitary gripe with this wonderful, sleek game, however.

Great job, you two (and to the audio artists and Jose as well!). Anything else in the planning stages?

liljim responds:

Maybe we'll add in some "jump to end of round" button at some point, though this is low priority - this game was just meant as a bit of fun for both of us. It was meant to take just a few days of production time (aside everything else that we do during our days), but drew out over weeks because Stamper and I both kept coming up with ideas for it and didn't want it to interrupt normal work flow.

Jose did create the original concept art for Flacit, but Stamper actually animated all of Flacit's movements in this (in fact, Stamper animated everything in this game). I just developed the engine behind it all.

As for you getting a bad selection of letters - that's purely down to bad luck. Vowels (and various other letters) are weighted so that they come out more frequently over other letters in the alphabet. That's why at the end of each round, there's the "Start Over" link.

Stamper and I have another game in the works, but whether or not we'll ever see it through is another matter. We only devote small sections of time to this sort of thing per day (if any time at all per day), so it's all a case of whether we have the patience to see it through as to whether or not it will ever be released.

I submitted this game earlier today (it could still have done with some work (my fault)) partially because both he and I were tired of the compile time behind the export to swf. :)

Glad you played the game, though. Keep trying it out to get the bonus points that ARE available. :)

Oh yes

You make my day good dude.

Thanks, both of you.

Like scrabble.......only..........not!

So you made a pretty decent word guessing game.....that is all well and good, but maybe some sort of originality could of been included in this project. Great Sound, Awesome graphics, the worst character ever(next to jar jar), but a solid game. It's just that, with well over 20,000 games to choose from, and I'm sure 1,000 of those being word games, this game is the same ol' same. If ya want a word game, here's one. If you want a refreshing experience look elsewhere. Solid game however.

cool

nice game, very fun and even better music too.
good job to both of you.

Nice!!!

Should go straight to the front page...good work.
