Reviews for "StarCraft: Mission 1"

Good concept

Idea-wise great, graphically okay, but the actual gameplay... isn't so good.

At most there are only two given options in any situation, one of which inevitably leads to certain death, with no warning. And you can never really tell what the right answer is in advance, except maybe on a "that would be too simple" basis. Even that works correctly only 50% of the time.

The only thing that keeps jumping back to the beginning after each death from being really, really frustrating is that the game is so short.

Dark-Boy responds:

For mission 2 i'll try cheack points and more mission choices that will effect the over all mission to put a new level of replay value. Thanks for good input man.

Not bad but...

...the role of the player is limited to pushing buttons. This is like "guess the right button that you have to push". And even if you push the wrong one and lose you can start form the beginning and now you know which is the right one.

Dark-Boy responds:

Your right. For mission 2 I need to try and add some more options when it comes time to make choces to spice it up.It makes things way to easy to have just 2 button. But this is a trial run.

Short

Dont make the commands in the thing below whatever is it called. and take away that thing! Put the commands on the terrain. And dont combine timing with this type of games. Like when you see a zealot, freeze action, then you can click on him to shoot him. but there are also explosives behind him. so if you click on him to shoot him, suddenly he dodges and kills you. So you have to click the explosives (provided you notice them) then the zealot explodes. And dont make it take a while to respond. And take away the voices. And no starcraft flash is good without zerg and zerglings. Put them in!

Excellent concept, good attempt, far too short

Some ideas for making it longer.....

1) Expand the mission intel so that its more extensive, if you add a bit of a story you can really draw people into it and they will give you endless suggestions for improvement that you can use to create your own frontpage masterpiece.

2) Add more options so that the player can see descriptions of the characters surroundings, maybe they have to do this to avoid a trap or get a key.

3) Really expand the mission itself......even a ghost has to figure out how to reach a facility since its in territory controlled by the enemy while their cloaked as they have a limited amount of energy for their suit and they have to avoid detection, so make infiltration a part of the mission itself. The next challenge is entering the facility, the doors to a military command center are not just going to be open to everyone, so how does the ghost and protoss enter?

4) Add some graphical details to it......this place probably wouldn't be in pristine condition, the protoss might have had to break down doors or walls to get to where they are in the facility. Add some blood to the the places where the enemy is shot, you could even use that time to add a little scene in which you see the bullet going from the gun to the spot on the enemy, ghosts were known to have superior physical and mental training compared to other terrains so an adrenaline rush for slowdown (matrix effect?) wouldn't be out of the question if they had to hit a target multiple times in a short time span like with the first zealot in this submission.

not gr8 but not bad

in the part with the vent how can he come down if you advance but hes not there when you climb? and the graphics were ok but bieng shot and no blood? not realistic. and you need more choices.
