Too much talk.
If there was one thing I could have liked less of in most of the FF games was the talking. This captured that aspect of those games well. What you missed was the awsome movie scenes that made playing the later of these games fun. Also you forgot that the FF series were games, not movies, so after people got bored watching people talk then they could actually get into the fights.
too true, but too much hack n slash n casting gets boring to watch as well.
A hint of advice...
Firstly, please go and look up "Ease" tweening. Basically, it's simple & makes your tweens look a LOT more realistic. Secondly, make everything move faster-- your fights scenes need some help in the speed department.
And thirdly, instead of making one guy move, then the other, try to have them move around each other, and attack constantly-- attack, block, dodge, attack, as opposed to long stretches of pacing(or worse talking :P)
So nice flash movie, but get 'er up to snuff in the fight department :)

that was hilarious. i didnt like the constant clicking at the end of every text, kind of annoying. great job on the soundtrack and i look forward to the next one.

Good concept overall
The good:
-music use appropriate
-story is great
-good dialogue
-magic sprites are nice
The bad:
-visually boring
-some (not all) sound effects ARE cheesy, as other people stated
The ugly:
-sprites don't do anything more than wave a sword
-pacing back and forth for 5 seconds to swing a sword does not constitute a nice battle scene
