It's a nice picture
but it doesn't give me a 3D vibe, even when enlarged.
I noticed, basically, that what's killing it here is the lack of dimension and depth.
So far the only objects in the picture that come close to reaching that would be the spheres behind the snail. Yet when you look at them, they don't cast a shadow on the snail's shell.
The shell, itself, needs to give a more sphere-like approach to accentuate both head and back end. Seeing as how it's the largest part, it's also the part that sticks out the most and gains the most attention. Therefore it would more than likely be the part that will be under heavy criticism. So I feel more focus on giving this area a real 3D effect would help this project. As of now, it's merely a 2D shell with a gradient...which also needs smoothing out.
So I guess what I'm saying is basically to work on the shadow/lighting play and the depth/dimension.
But as a 2D picture, I love it. I think it's a really cool looking snail and could pass for a logo of sorts!
