Yes the story of the flower was supposed to represent his life. The flower was him. The beginning shows his growing and entering the world when he leaves the tree. Then his journey to the temple was supposed to represent his lif'es journey...it was then supposed to travel down a river, and then get blown onto a street where it was crushed (his death). then a seed would get taken by the wind and turn into a new tree (life after death).
And thank you for your sympathies.
