The 7th Saga of racing games...
If I was going to rate this game objectively, I would give it a much lower score, but because I got so hooked into it, you got the 8. This is like one of those RPGs where you have to fight so many crappy battles just to get enough gold/exp to move on, but you just still keep fighting for hours (7th Saga anyone?). The game gives you lots of customizable features for your car (more than I used for sure), from how it will perform to how it will look. There's a nice selection of cars, engines, and car parts put in. At first glance, looking at all those cars and their stats, you think that the more expensive cars are definitely the best. Once you open up the engine-buying options, though, the only STAT (singular) that matters is car weight. You can put the best engine and all the best parts into a BMW M5 (a very expensive car in the S-class) and the cheapest s-class car is still better all souped-up. The race itself is what kills me: you don't steer, there's no turns to make, no braking to be done, no wild maneuvering, you just hold down the gas and change gears. If you play the game right, you don't even need the Nitro feature for about a third of the game, but once races get harder, it helps ALOT. Even then, there's not a whole lot of strategy to it. The visuals in this game are not exactly spectacular but decent. The sounds are repetitive (you will hear the same car revving noise dozens of times if you get caught up in this) and I don't know about the music because I turned it off right away. I really don't what it is about this game that made me play it so much, but since games are there to waste time, PhantomGame's Drag Racer 3 certainly did what's its supposed to do.
