Anatomically - He looks more functional than the Movie one.
I'm not sure how they came up with their design without cheating here and there like they do with the New Animated Series.
Course...the idea of a robot being able to walk, move, and transform like in the movies...is a feat of mechanical physics SO GREAT that it's nearly impossible.

I never envisioned Optimus as a young fit chap, but a bit grizzled and weary from being the Elite Guard's whipping boy for so long and having had to take on so many decepticons.

I think the new constructicons are a great example, though obviously not that over the top.
Old vs. the New
HOT! The tires for legs is original! But i have to tell you...I'm in love with gen 1 bocky transformers. I like the old cartoon optimus he best. This lookes dope for sure, but would a photo realistic optimus gen 1 cartoon style be that bad? Masterpiece Optimus Is an example. Would that look so bad on the bing screen.
