Reviews for "The Ring: Clock Style II"

Clocks never die

It is nice. Good idea, good job. Crazy Stuff, but I like it.

Zephret responds:

haha... thanks man :)

How Do You Get The Clock's voices?

Are the clocks' voices made in text to speech? if so, where can I get them? PLEASE REPLY!

It was Ok.

It was ok. I'll be sure to check out part II. The only thing that bugged me is the fact that clock crew uses microsoft bob voice for all of its friggin characters. It just gets annoying after awile thats all.

Zephret responds:

Hello... Well, we actually use a different program called Speakonia, and it's got alot more different voices... I used 3 different ones in this flash. I can understand how it can be irritating though. Thanks for the review.

competant clock film

First off let me say I'm rather impressed with these, your first endeavours as a flash animator. Usually the material submitted by newbie's is crap devoid of any real thought or hard work taking up valuable space in the portal. It's nice to see that while you are still rough around the edges, you have both talent and the drive to improve yourself (I base that assumption on your commendable attempts to respond to your flash's reviews ^_^).

That being said, let's dig in.

Graphics: Ok this was pretty decent animation for what was needed. The clocks (::shudder:: sorry I hate clocks) were well drawn (nice original designs might I add). And the little nuances like the traditional "black mini-cone" that denotes which clock is speaking. Also the backgrounds are decent, if not a little rudimentary (two exceptions: nice paste job of real forest pic in background of last scene, and cool how you basically took a snapshot of the current portal front page and digitalized it :) ).

Sound: Mixed bag here. The clocks' dialogue sounded like clock dialogue. But a HUGE hangup I had was with "Pink Clock". It seemed like her voice changed everytime she spoke (for a little while I thought she might be a he...lol). As to the music, it really wasn't scary so much as it was jumpy and annoying (though that kind of music bothered me when I watched the actual movie "The Ring" :) )
I'd recommend getting some kind of melodic/eerie music for the flash in general so the sudden lurches of sound (like the "Day #" shots) don't take people by surprise.

Premise: Well this was kinda lacking for me. You tried to simply plug the script of the movie into a NG setting (which is fine). But sometimes there were some serious leaps/plot gaps that made it impossible to get into the swing of things. The hand down largest example of this is after...whatever the main character's name is sees the movie for the first time (at first he's confused as to what it is, but when he goes over to talk to "Pink Clock" he suddenly knows that its been killing people and that Tom and Wade Fulp are dead (I'm sure they both got a kick out of that little hommage...lol).

Overall I think you should really go back over your total projected storyline and make sure it doesn't suffer from any plot gaps like the ones in this flash. Also put some serious thought into music employment.

I've seen your Mega man flash and between the two of them I see you going places man. Keep up the good work and keep improving (I'll run out of complaints sooner or later ^-^).

3/5

Zephret responds:

Wow... just, ... wow. Thankyou SO much for that review!

I have taken in everything you said and absorbed it... I promise I'll improve with time!
Thanks for the review and thanks SO much for everything!
