Reviews for "Betrayal DVD"

well done

Though I think you cross symbolism a bit much with literal interpretation of "God". If "God" by most definitions operates in some kind of spiritual realm, then He/She/It must operate in eternity. If that's the case, then "sight" becomes something different than what is simply subject to the confines of the finite...since the eternal is not limited to finite reality. I think what's more important in the case of death (and obviously this is pure speculation on my part) is the experience, rather than what kind of experience. Most, for instance, who've reportedly come back from a near death and have claimed to have seen a light at the end of a tunnel, have said they couldn't really describe the experience...that it was an amazingly unique experience.

anyway. that being said. i still love this. it's original, it's a valid point that gets you thinking, and hell...it gets you to think?! how often does that happen on NG? (no offense to the other animators who do accomplish this...i'm just saying there's a lot of crap out there). so yeah. i like this. it caught my interest. nice job.

Needle responds:

Thanks for the review, interpretation, and rebuttal... these are the kinds of reviews I was hoping to get a lot of, unfortunately there have only been a handful of them.

You bring up some great points about the experience of death, not so much being a light but maybe a concept of a light, something that is completely intangible and very different from physical light. I suppose my theoretical view too quickly jumps to the conclusion that physical light contains the same qualities as spiritual light. I shall ponder this turn of events!

okok it makes perfect sense

Ok this is how I interpreted it before reading the desc:

The creatures of flesh, the lower, reptilian beings that live off their survival instinct live blindly and in fear of the world. But when they die, they still return to the same place as any other living thing because they are made up of the same metaria that every other living thing is made up of. It made sense to me.

after reading the description:

ok, here is the bit on the light. The light can only be haluscinated by the eyes, you dont actually see it because its not really there. You perceive it, with your higher senses that are normally dimmed by the brain, which, upon death, ceases to function.

What would a blind person see? They would too, see light. The blind people that have developed their higher senses CAN and DO see things without their eyes. In fact, the scientists who study this have got certain blind people to the point of being able to watch television. Sure, blind people cant discern objects in the way we do, but they can still sense it which is just another way of seeing once its developed, things are just more formless in that place, but you know what... because of this, maybe they can actually see better than us because they are not ever subjected to the illusion of reality that everyone else is so easily fooled by.

Its kind of like asking, if you give a blind person LSD, would they see things? The answer is no, their eyes cannot detect anything... strictly in the material vision that we are accustomed to. But do dying people/near death people see the light with their eyes? No, they do not... because there is no material light forming in front of their eyes before they die.

Needle responds:

Thanks for the fantastic review. You bring up sereval valid points, such as instinct and its connections to blindness, and "vision beyond vision", with even the blind producing images that they can see. But then we come full circle - what experience would they have when they die? And then once again we return to your points - would their concept of light be completely different from our own? Confusing stuff but it's fun to think about! Good stuff my friend. Thanks again.

Oh my.

The graphics. The music. The growls. I love it. I am not worthy!

Needle responds:

Bah, don't say that Sherb. When it comes right down to it, you're a better pure animator that I am!

interesting

I think the artist is wasted on flash animation. I read the animation exaplanation and this person is seriously deep.

Needle responds:

Hehe, I'll take that as a compliment - however I can assure you that I'm just a normal guy, trying to infuse a little bit of thought into everyday life (and hopefully Newgrounds).

It's probably the last serious piece I'll ever do :)

Awsome!

Great, this was really goo, great animation and everything else!Keep up the awsome work!
This was awsome!
