Looking back I can say that I genuinely like the name of this piece. My best friend used to always make fun of me for titles like this and say I was cheesy, so I was pretty self-conscious for a time lol. I appreciate your compliment.
Was a nice little journey
Well, you wanted help with the percussion, I'm a percussionist. Here we go. Whenever you're looking at what kind of drumming to put in a song, you need to have a good reason for every beat. It may have this sweet, groovy backbeat going on, but if the piece you're throwing it under is a little more subtle, then you want something a little more simple. The second half of the song (after the flute solo thingy) is done MUCH better. Everything fits. Its just a nice simple groove that flows underneath the melody/harmony line.
Over all, this is good. You just need to think about WHY you put something in.
Thank you for the honesty! Your advice was very helpful and made a lot of sense. I felt that the drum track during the first half was too rhythmic/fast, but didn't go with my instinct and change it. At least now I know what to do for my future songs. I will think more "Why" from here on out.
Thank you very much for the advice! :D
