The vocals are more understandable because ur singing them slowly and more softly. It sounds rather well even on my evil computer speakers. I personally like the original version better but thats just a question of personal opinion.

I have to honestly say, I'm surprised my vocals didn't turn out bad on this given that I couldn't project at the time I recorded them (because I had to reconfigure my mic, and didn't know that until after I did this).
