Good Start!
You've got a good foundation for a larger game here. Some things I'd recommend would be a smaller character--the screen is only about 3 mechas tall, making your field of motion pretty limited. Also, the character cannot move or shoot all the way to the top and bottom boundaries of the screen, but the enemy can appear and shoot in these areas. The collision detection seems a bit off too, as the animation for your character doesn't actually have to contact enemy units or shots to take damage. If you polish the graphics and address the above issues, you have the makings of a flash classic, IMHO. Nice job.
Not bad
I'm A all out fan of the Side scrolling shooters. It's, in my opinion, one of the few genres that can actually challenege people. I gave you a 4 for interactivity cuz the "receive hit" area is a little too far from the mech's actual body. It's not an original idea like the other guy said, but then again, if you look at all the other shooters they're essentially the same thing.

Awsome fighter game, very laggy, but it was cool, i liked it alot, notbad at all, and the music was really sweet, just kinda laggy though...
