Reviews for "Jerricco: Episode I"

Needle's review had some great points.

I enjoyed this enough to watch it through. It had very good scene-to-scene directing, enough for it to overcome its somewhat cliche'd concept and artistic flaws. Yes, two tones of shading to the colors would help. drawn shading, not gradient fill.

My favorite part was the ship exploding, you drew that well in angle and perspective. Thumbs up for that.

I have a plot-related question. Why were the bad guys standing around and not trying to evacuate if there was a bomb timed to go off in a minute? That confused me, unless all the bad guys didn't know about the bomb, aside from the leader in the white pimp suit and his pilot.

Perhaps a little text intro or something could have cleared up that part of the plot.

Just some constructive advice. Entertaining little movie.

jerricco-team responds:

I'll keep that shading advice in mind in the future. I wanted to make it sort of a actiony intro with an unsure story line, that's why there's no text intro and so I won't say what the plot really is *taps nose*.
Thanks alot for the review!

sweet

iliked it it was pretty cool

jerricco-team responds:

Thanks.

overall would be about a 9.998

Great fucking movie. The body movements are a little stiff, and the hellicopter could lacked the detail you had in everything else so it looked out of place, which in turn is a good thing. The ship exploding, the rotor snapping, hell, even the bloodspray. You didnt go out and exagerate everything like so many newgroundists out there do. Great work, i look forward to seeing more from you and your team.

jerricco-team responds:

It's the tweening. I'm gettin better at it though ;) I didn't have a picture of that kind of hellicopter to look at while drawing so I had to make it up sorta. And I love how you like the lack of exageration, I'm all about the realism...Even if it's not as cool. Thanks a friggin lot!

Great Direction.

This was a great film. The directing was fantastic and I especially enjoyed the attention to details, like the bullet hole through the cowboy hat, and even the way water kicks up when the helicopter blades come up out of the ocean.

Here's some constructive criticism, just me nitpicking. Feel free to ignore. :) Your compositions are a little flat. You're using some generic gradients, but a lot of shapes are simple, one color fills. I think you'd notice a considerable raise in quality if you broke down your fills into subtle two or three color shades.

The plot is a little cliche... it reminds me on a Steven Segal movie. I personally think the "slow motion gun attack" has been done to death. But hey, it's your movie, you can do whatever you like with it. :)

Otherwise, this is a damned good flick. A lot of NG users could learn a thing or two about directing and planning from this film.

jerricco-team responds:

I'm a rediculous perfectionist, that's why there's alot of detail. I'm still trying to improve on my skills so thanks for the graphics advice. Yeah the plot's pretty cliche but heck, it's fun and it'll get better. I know the slow-mo is overused but it's still cool so i tried to do something at least a little different with it. Thanks Tons!!!

*speechless*

absolutely brilliant!
u used the slow down with the killing and the music v.well!
in fact its got some of the best stealth scenes in newgrounds i'd say!
cant wait till episode 2!

jerricco-team responds:

Sweet. Thanks. It's all about the stealth, don't you agree.
