Stunning. No other way to describe it.
Ever since T0MMY mentioned the concept of this movie to me months ago (At least it seems like months), I have eagerly been awaiting it. It was very well worth the wait, and exceeded even my lofty expectations from a list of such great authors. This movie is one of my personal favorites. The sheer number of different styles, emotions, and themes expressed in this collaboration working with a single song (Well-made, I may add) just blows my mind.
Graphics: There are many different graphical styles here to complement each author's ideas of what the song means. From the graphics of Ericblak's "Untitled" and Sickdeathfiend's "Test", which seem to bring up a comic book style in my mind, to the harrowing realism of DonQuixote's "Untitled" and almost insane style of T0MMY's "Requies per Sanite", and Pinnicle's "Squirrel Tron", which seems to take an entirely different approach from all of them. And all were graphically AMAZING. 10/10!
Sound: The song selected (composed -- a BIG plus) invoked a series of different styles -- which is what the song from a jam SHOULD do. It has a great beat to it, and was the perfect selection for this piece. 10/10!
Interactivity: There are a series of menus you can access while you wait for the movies to load; a great way to kill some time while you wait for the file to load (Although a 900+ WPM wording speed and a 56K don't help much.) -- A good amount of interactivity for a movie, although I still can't judge the movie on interactivity much. 5/10.
Style: I love the concept of the jam. It allows several different highly talented artists to show off their contrasting styles. The sheer amount of different ideas presented in this movie makes it amazing, and the amount of detail in teh pre-load screens is also a plus. Overall, it is a sensory blast; absolutely amazing in style. One of the best movies stylistically I have EVER seen on NewGrounds. 10/10!
Violence: There is a good deal of violence in "Test", although there isn't really much elsewhere. 6/10.
Humor: Not meant to be funny. The idea of placing squirrels in Tron was a bit amusing, though. 2/10.
Overall: Stunning, impressive, exemplary, I don't know if there IS a word that can give this collaboration justice. I seriously, seriously hope that the "#1" at the end of the title indicates that there may be a sequel. I loved this movie -- what more is there to say? 10/10!
Miscellaneous: As for my favorite, I'd say it was a toss up between "Squirrel Tron" and "Requies per Sanite", although for entirely different reasons. "Squirrel Tron" is an ingenious idea, and there really isn't any way to accurately describe "Requies per Sanite". That said though, I'd vote 5 on all of these movies if given individually.
Final Verdict: 1 well-animated movie = great, 5 of them in a single file = a movie that, if there is any sense in NG, deserves a permanent spot in the Top 50 of all time. Why are you still reading this? Watch this collection NOW.
