great concept, great execution.
the juxtaposition of a simple (design) video character into fine art in a familiar form is not an original idea, but you pulled it off really really well. The gesture is a great touch. My favourite features are the detail on his skin (wrinkle lines, sharp bone structure + neck) and backdrop (incl. halo).
i'm assuming the main intent of the image was to focus the viewer onto the eyes and head, because in that sense the blur of the robes practically sinks into the background (more than the visible background itself), again putting more focus onto the upper half of the portrait. however, i still feel that the robes could have clung to the skin a bit more....rather than thin material, it looks a bit like jesus has stuffed polystyrene under his garment.
overall, i think you've grasped the character quite well :D and i like it very much
