Reviews for "Awesome (joshhunsaker)"

Fantastic

I heard this while playing Z-Rox (a game on Newgrounds) and I had to find out more about it. Very chill, and it went great with the vibe of the game. Definitely downloading it and it's going into regular rotation on my playlist, it's too bad it isn't a little longer, though. Keep up the fantastic work.

SuperGoodSound responds:

i was surprised myself how well it went with z-rox...

Love it

Good job. I really like that kind of music that is relaxing and yet have a beat to it. All is smooth and fit well together.

Short , but agree on your point; better keep it short and sweet rather than longer and lose something.

SuperGoodSound responds:

i really do wish I could make it longer though, honestly. I would love to...

If i were better, maybe someday I'll come back to this concept.

Wow,.

1 question how/what effect did you use between 4-12 were it's gaining vol then losses it...

P.S. this is very massive attackie.... reminds me of the theme of House

SuperGoodSound responds:

i think that specific effect was done through a network of fx devices placed upon a little noise-synth riff. I believe that dblue's glitch did a majority or the work though...

I can see what you mean about the similarity to house too!

It is.

This has got to be one of the best ambient peaces I've heard. The sounds are so simple yet so powerful. Must I say more?

Great job. I'll be checking your work from now on.

SuperGoodSound responds:

yeah, I 'm glad this one just sort of "fell in my lap" musically speaking. I just really came together when I was throwing all the elements in...

Once again...

There's something about the instruments that you use that makes it sound so good. I don't have a very good ear for samples and my headphones and speakers are, not cheap, but not good either. But nothing you have used has the slightest imperfections. I absolutely love your effects. The preset effects on Reason aren't very good, and to make a custom one just takes too much time, especially since I'm teaching myself everything haha. I'm going to try my luck at it and see if I can borrow some of your techniques. I think I have an idea of what makes it sound so fresh and I want to give it a try.

SuperGoodSound responds:

hey, thanks again for the "awesome" review (pun intended, lol - actually, that is kinda funny...).

I've found that even though certain presets may not sound good by themselves...if you find the right application for it - they somehow magically seem to work. Now, it's true that there are simply some banks of sound (viz. say Nexus) that just have such superb programming that every single preset is inspiring and almost an instant song right there, but very often - if you can "feel" it through - there seems to always be this way to accomplish a satisfying piece of music from seemingly harmless little sounds...

Like - this song for instance was built completely from freeware instruments and fx. Nothing at all that I had to pay for. I wish I could really understand how the deeper parts of the creation process work so I could at least explain myself decently, but it just seems to nebulous for me to put into real words.
