Reviews for "Escape From Slurpyville"

I was entertained...

And I was amused. And I don't think it needs a "retry 2 steps back" button or whatever. I spent sooooooooooooooooo many hours redoing the begining of the HitchHiker game trying to get that smegging babel fish, this was cake by comparison. I love all those text games, and the old school choose your own adventure books.. I still have some transformers and zork ones from when I was young.
What I really like about this, and this particular medium, is it allows those of us who lack artistic ability but still have artistic sensibilites to get our ideas out there. I've been working on some stuff, but I haven't uploaded anything yet 'cause I can't draw, but you've inspired me.. maybe I'll do something like this. It's not that it doesn't take skill, but it takes a different kind of skill.
Oh, and I'm giving you a 5, not neccesarily 'cause you deserve a 5, but you definetly deserve better than a 1.77 and I want to raise it as much as I can.

Rock on!

DoubleJ13 responds:

Wow, thank you so much. I'm thrilled to get such a positive response about one of my Flash movies. It's hard to say what got me interested in making a game like this (besides the Zork game) but like you said, some of us just don't have the artistic ability--and for that matter, the time to draw detailed set and characer after detailed set and character--and this just seemed like a good idea for a fun little interactive story to me. Hopefully I'll come out with an episode 2 when I get the chance, and I'd love to see what you can do with this same sort of idea as well. Thanks again!

pretty good

i like it, i should get a better score, there are a few things that you could do to make it better, instead of starting over, you should have something like "go back 2 places" so you wouldnt have to go thru the whole thing again, its pretty cool, got a good storyline..

DoubleJ13 responds:

First of all, thanks. I appreciate the positive feedback. I think the reason it's pulling less than a 2 right now on newgrounds is that this place, as is the case with most flash sites, is based mainly on animation. And that's obviously not what Escape From Slurpyville is about. Like I was saying about that "try again" or "go back" option...I was thinking of adding it but I decided against it because I didn't want people cruising through the whole thing in just a couple minutes. But I have heard the same complaint from many people before, so if I was going strictly for viewer feedback it would probably be wise for me to add it.

I't was good

It was good could of been a bit better. I dont like reading that much but if it's a game I sometimes dont mind. The ending was kind of strange and also could of had more to it. Oh and is that Hospitle in slurpyville or somewhere else. and since he said something about a lepercan does that make him crazy. Wheres his kids are they okay or was the nurse crazy too? Anyway all in all it was pretty good. I like the begining music.

Nice one here and once again I find myself enjoying this game you have made for us after all this is a fun site and you made this one enjoyable to the max and you really have made this fun for all Well it is a good idea, it interests me, but there is just way to much text for people to really get into it, good music though, not bad just too much of one thing kind of kills it

~X~

potential wasted

It's a alright game but I felt it could've been better.

DoubleJ13 responds:

Your message isn't so bad, but "potential wasted"? Ouch man. Even if I took the graphics, the music, everything out except the text...I still don't think it would be a waste. If that's the case, then all the Zork games are a waste too (and those are some really fun retro games).
