Reviews for "NGArmy/Clay v Stick short"

Nice job!

Man, those were some tiny tanks. Started getting zero hits around level 18. Final score: 63095/91583
The claymation was pretty cool too, but hey, who's the wizard? Hahaha.....

Denvish responds:

Thanks GuineVir! The wizard is my uncle. And yeah, level 18+ is HARD. I may turn the preloader into a full game with more enemies etc... if I can be bothered...

nice job

It really is nice to see a rise in the claymation movies as of late. I am sick of the DBZ crap and the sticks, and the clock crew movies of crap and phaluses.

it was ok

it should have been longer

Fun stuff

I like the fact you could paly the game while the movie loaded. I wish there was more of a point to the game other than shooting the ubbles. No real way to lose it.

The actual movie was good. It got it point across perfectly. The interaction between the stick and clay were really good. The text along the bottom moved a little fast to read. Fortunatly I had o problem understanding the characters. Nice work.

Denvish responds:

Game: yeah, well, it's a lot better than most 'first games' submitted. As you've seen from Overrun, I've moved on a bit since then

Movie: Glad you liked, it took a while.

jolly good

I got so involved with the preloader game I almost forgot to play the movie. Nice little game. Are the levels endless?
The animation was great with the clay figure. His facial movement was in perfect sync with the sound. It was as tho he actually was talking. Its amazing what can be done with clay.
The pictures were really quite clear. I am impressed with the file size vs. the quality. A lotta movie for the load time so to speak. Hard to reduce the file size and get quality pictures like you have here.
The sound was quite clear as far as I could tell. I had no problem understanding the entire story. THe sub-titles moved a bit quick however.
The humor was great as well. I rather liked the outcome. :) Perhaps next time your star could whack a few extra and add to the violence level.
I've seen all your movies and one of the programs you have and you are really gifted in computer arts. I hope you are sending your portfolio around. I really feel you could go far in digital media. Good luck.

Denvish responds:

I think there are 30 levels, but the last 5 or so are insanely fast.
The claymation was done by taking stills with a bog-standard webcam, then editing/resizing/compressing them with Paintshop Pro before importing to Flash. Time-consuming, but not a bad result. The stickman was added afterwards - unfortunately, it was virtually impossibly for him to interact with the jpegs, so that's why it wasn't a longer fight (like I originally intended)
In terms of gainful employment with my skills, well I've tried, but no-one seems interested. It probably doesn't help that my main website is for my music, rather than the Flash stuff; and NG has a bit of a dodgy reputation amongst potential employers (due to porn ads in the past). Ho hum, I'll keep doing stuff, hopefully someone will 'discover' me one day, and give me lots of money....
