Dude, I just came a little.
How the fuck do you get that tone? The whole thing was fucking awesome. Did you have the pig squeals going on this? Fuck man. Brutal. Loved it.

Tone = SM58 about 20cm's away from the speaker cone. Possibly. It might have been pushed right up against the grill...I can't quite remember. But yeah...nothing special, just threw the mic down and started recording XD.

Did have some pig squeals on this, but I think my voice is starting to go in my old age XD

Yesh!

Now that's a mighty fine live recording right there. Only one mic. with the drums? Woah, for that, it sounds mighty fine sir. Compression ftw in any case. ;)

The kick drowns a little in the mix, yes but for only using one fucking mic. it's a better sound what others can do with a hole set. Guitar sound is boob on as always. I kinda like to make something like this as well. Simplicity can be soo fucking addicting. >:D

Also...I like the kinda chaotic beat change at 0:48. Overall I say it was a good old cptnfuckhead recording. Cool to hear more fucking metal from ya! \m/

Emo5ived!

nice nice nice

like what youve done with the compressor

was the mic compressed or did you do it in the master?

and also which compressor and mic did you use ?

cheers
Jay

jarrydn responds:

Recording was two mono tracks (one guitar, one drums) panned centre. Just a compressor strapped across the drum track to make it really pump. No other effects as far as I'm aware, apart from maybe some EQ.

Microphone was a shure SM-57...hence the trashy sounding drums hahaha. But I kind of dig it, in a real DIY grind kind of way :]

The compressor was the one that comes default with Sony Acid Pro. I don't know why, but I really like how dirty it is. It's wicked for slamming the life out of anything. But yeah, we just took it from Acid and used it in Nuendo instead ;D

Ummmm, once the track was mixed down, I probably would have opened it up in t-racks and limited the buttz out of it to get it as loud as possible. Also the t-racks EQ is pretty fucking gnarly :)

Good grind,

I love the drum sound. Truly an underground slamming sound. If the kick were a little more tight, it would be the ideal drum sound.

Perfect snare count off. So punchy.

Fuck

Man I haven't seen you around in ages. Glad to see your still alive.

Anyway, I'm guessing it's you on drums? if so great job with the playing. Though the kick got really hard to hear in some sections, even though you already know that, I just felt like pointing it out. I really love the snare though. Guitar sounds nice and thick, not going the direct method anymore when recording? Were you using an sm57 for the guitar? I'm looking into mics for micing my amp, so any tips/suggestions would be awesome.

Anyway man, nice to see you kicking around again. Hopefully we'll see a bit more of you around.
