Reviews for "retro robot day poster"

I don't know about the rider but

the horse looks like something out of the Megaman X series of games.

jouste responds:

i'm not too familiar with those games but i do see some resemblance. thanks for the high score and review!

Astro Boy Indeed

Before I even read that it was based on Tezuka, I immediately saw the influence!
This has all the youthful energy in it! Really cool, keep up the good work!

jouste responds:

excellent! glad you got the young energy i wanted to convey with this piece.

o man...

where the hell have i seen this guy before...
ooo jeesh...i know i;ve seen this character some where back from my childhood.

anyway great piece!

jouste responds:

thanks!

it probably reminds you of astro boy, i tried to keep tezuka's style of horses and eye studies in here as much as i could.

NO WAY! This is totally Tezuka inspired!

I never thought of you as a fan of Tezuka's work.

Usually his art style turns off modern media viewers.

But if you look past the child-like features, he really was the God of Manga. His stories are incredible! Buddha, Metropolis, Kimba, etc.

I really dig the remakes of Astro Boy, I have yet to check out Phoenix.

Who else to pay homage to when celebrating Robot Day than something Astro Boy inspired.

Seriously though, if you never read Tezuka's Buddha, it's really good.

jouste responds:

yeah i'm a huge fan of tezuka. i only have the first 3 buddah books but they are amazing. i just revently finished MW and man alive was that intense. a very very dark side of him.

and yes! astroboy was and always will be the king of robots!

glad you like it pal! always good to hear from you.

90's all over again

The paper-like background gives it a nice touch. Nice and colorful. I like it!

jouste responds:

hey thanks! i had been looking at old movie posters and really liked the crease marks. thanks for the review!
