Reviews for "Frog's Piano -XvN-"

IT is good at the beggining.

Good at first but not at the end.

Xavon responds:

I personally thought it was just average all around, it only took about 40-50 minutes to do it all in piano roll and I didn't try to spice it up too much.

Nice loop

It's a nice loop that would fit good in a lower quality game (flash or handheld) that introduces a character and is it's theme. Typically the more pompous or self-rigteous character that thinks they deserve more than they're getting.

Xavon responds:

Heh, quite the opposite of the owner to the original theme. Frog was a very heroic and deserving character of such a theme, this current piano version hardly lives up to his standards. =P

ok.. well i like the frog too, but...

good job so far on using Fl Studio, because that's what i use. it's quite an eloquent program, and a major breakthrough from FLP2 and 3, that's for sure...
i just have a question, "why 5 paragraphs for the Author's Comments and not once do you actually give credit to the original source?" i mean, c'mon... you didn't even say it was from chronotrigger until somebody asked you two comments down. thats beat to me.
as good as this may be, i feel in my heart that i could only ever give it (or the work of anyone else that is a video game music cover) a 3 or 3.5 out of 5 because it's not really your song.
the fact that you go into all this detail about how hard you worked on this project and how you don't want people to vote it down for no reason and how you were just tinkering while "trying to write" an original piece (which i find hilariously delicious) and blah blah blah blah... you forgot to mention that this song comes from ChronoTrigger and boy is that a fun game to play!
that would've been nice, is all i'm saying, at the beginning of the listening experience, rather than at the end after i've read yourwhole life story.
yeah, i'm haute. deal.
good job, though... nice drums.

Xavon responds:

I'm a hardcore gamer, I kind of forgot that not everyone has played the games I consider the greatest of all time.

Hence why I didn't mention the original source to Chrono Trigger, but many songs submitted to the VG section are like this as well with no mention of the original source. The reason they are submitted to the Video Game Music section is because, obviously, they are usually from a video game or have that video game feel, most likely the former.

I never mentioned that this was an original piece or that I thought up the idea myself. It should have been obvious it was a remix.

Gah.

8th note and 16th notes against triplet patterns on the piano? Really, the song just sounds weird and it's not full in any way at all... just a piano and a snare drum.

Sounds like there's not a lot of effort put into the song as a whole; since it's so short, you should have been able to stick a lot more things in there.

Xavon responds:

You should see what I've told the others already, there was no effort put into this at all. I spent 30 minutes in piano roll just messing around with FL Keys, I have no reason why so many people seem to enjoy it. I uploaded a newer piano sample and just some reverbed snare which only took an extra 10 minutes at most.

I'm surprised you're the first to notice in a review the clash between the notes and that triplet, I always knew it was there and I didn't bother fixing it on the re-upload since people didn't seem to care.

Thanks for the review.

I honestly didn't like it

It's too repetitive, and if you're gonna be working with piano notes, find notes that are better harmonized

Xavon responds:

Don't worry, I didn't like it either. :)
