"Recluse" is a short film I wanted to make as challenge to see if I could tell an effective story without dialogue and complete it in a 30 day time span. It ended up stretching out over the course of many months, mostly because I was getting "When Black Birds Fly" ready for release, but I'm pretty happy with the results! This is also the first film I've animated in 4K. Featuring cameo vocals by Emily Youcis & Rachael Deacon, and additional sound design by M dot Strange!

This is pretty good, not great, but pretty good. It definitely achieves what I imagine you were going for, which was to creep people the fuck out. The only thing I didn't really like about it was the whole random blotchy colors thing that was going on (it was REALLY hard to look at), that and the obvious clipping of many objects through each other. It seemed kinda lazy tbh, but hey, what are you gonna do. The story was pretty good. I especially liked the picture of the dead husband, character development at it's finest hahaha.
Animation was a bit lacking; sound is eh; story is good:
Conclusion: Unsettling which is good because it strived to be unsettling
This was extremely creepy and unsettling. The content, the disorienting and unnatural colors, the poor quality sound, and the ugly character models -- each element on its own was creepy enough. That said, the animation itself isn't very good and I think the same result could be accomplished with something a bit easier to look at. Surreal doesn't have to mean "confusing."
