Moves with left and right key. Z to run and X to cut wood. Simple as that. A little test that turned up into a game.

I dont know why I enjoy this, but I do.

Great, I liked the style of drawing,as it goes with the style of game, but also feels poor. The game is easy if you learn to do.

I think this has nice promise, but it may be a little too bare-bones at the moment.

Overall, there is a very safe way of playing this which is unfortunately also highly monotonous. The only daring way this can be played is by recklessly chopping down the trees in full disregard of fatigue. Chances are you may be lucky and no beast will attack you on your way back, since their spawing seems completely unpredictable. It would benefit the game a lot if it would allow for a more risky playstyle as well - having the trees go on, for example, or being able to avoid/trap/kill the attacking beasts, being able to restore fatigue gradually even outside of the house, etc.

A few further comments/suggestions:
- Having the survival aspect of the game only indirectly be alluded to through fatigue and a limited amount of trees per day is an interesting choice - personally, I would appreciate at least the controls section mentioning it, though, as well as the ability to sleep and to retire.
- Though the game is structured into days, they are only measured by resting (preferably after being fatigued). One might think that the change of the brightness of the background has something to do with the time passing, but instead it simply becomes darker the further you leave the house (supposedly indicating the darkness of the woods?) and brighter when you move back. It would be nice to have a gradual change of colour as the day ends. This would also allow for fatigue to be measured both by exertion (chopping and sprinting) and by length of time spent awake.
- The threat of beasts is a nice way of spicing things up, but it would perhaps work more effectively if there was a degree of variation to them (not necessarily in design but in their movement and timing).
- Simple games like these rely a lot on their charm and I think this one has the potential to exude it. One simple way that could be achieved might be through a slight variation of background sounds and/or visuals for certain days (storm, calm, rain, heat) as opposed to having perpetual wind.

2.5 stars - right in the middle - because while I generally had fun with it it's playstyle and visual design is too monotonous (and considering how little there is to this game, that is a serious drawback).

"You did cut X trees in Y days" is very unorthodox wording, too. If it wasn't intentional, I'd suggest simply scrapping the 'did'.

Dermi responds:

Thank you. Good thinking and points made! I will evaluate this perspective in my upcoming games.

i got everything this game offers in about 5 minutes.

1st try, chopped 0 wood and kept going to the right, boulder smooshed me, "0 trees in 1 days"

2nd try, figured out how to chop wood, chopped 5 wood, went back to house, slept, chopped more wood (now 10), heard strange piercing sound, strange thing came out of nowhere, ran to the house, ran out of fatigue, died, "10 trees in 2 days"

that's about it

Some additional instalments you can consider is having the # of trees cut down somewhere on the screen (possibly a scoreboard), as well as a key that allows us to skip to the next day once we've cut down all the trees, isntead of waiting idly. Other then that, I can still see there being lots of room for improvements on this game.
