Awesome game! The horror plus the sci-fi was cool. But I am really wondering, what is really happening and is there another ending other than *spoiler alert* john dying?

(My Thoughts)
This game's atmosphere and slow pace sure did give me that chill down my spine on my first play through. Unfortunately this game falls short in options and character development. I wanted to make my own choices rather than be forced to do what it wants me to do. hopefully a better Prequel/Sequel will come from this?
