(This game is a tribute to Gunstar Heroes and all the classics that my favourite game company Treasure made. It's also got little shout outs to over games as well.)

Yes, I know stuff is missing and some stuff could be done better, but it's just a little flash project I wanted to really do for myself. It's a mix between, Gunstar, Megaman and Contra.)

(If you like this game, or any classic 16 bit, run 'n' gun games, please help me fund a fully featured game through Kickstarter!) m/projects/sinclairian/tw in-gunners

Well, it's finally done. I know it's a bit late but I ran into some issues like you do. Anyway it's all there, four big levels, lots of bosses and some retro action sprinkled on top.

It's pretty difficult but there is unlimited continues to counter balance that aspect. I've added medals and extras to unlock for you peeps who enjoy that sort of thing.

It's a big, CPU heavy game, so if you're experiencing lag, you can download the standalone offline exe for free. (You could also resize the game by 2x to it's native 320x224 resolution.)

Here is the stand-alone:

Anyway, I hope you like it, it took a while to make and I have put a lot of effort into this, (about four months worth really.) So yeah, hope you enjoy.

Uhm. Overall pretty good game, A step towards the right direction of Gunstar Heroes, but... The Directional Firing is a terrible issue, diagonal firing is essential in these fast-paced action shooters.
As well as the delay in level two, and the recurring Boss problem I keep having, that kills the playtime in general for me.
More so, Kickstarting your fund would be a step in the right direction, but if you plan to make money via that system, you should attend to the bugs first before doing that, so people get a idea of how great a game this could be.

There was a bug in your game. After I completed first area. In the second area when I jump the girl fly up untill push into something and not fall back and the screen go up kept killing me. It kept that way untill I refresh the page....

This game is simply amazing!
I love the Genesis era graphics and music, as well as the Contra vibe.
My only grip is that there aren't more levels and guns!
Oh well, perhaps there will be a sequel?!!
Keep up the great work!

Beat the game before giving my 5 cents. As a whole, it's an average game, if compaired too consoles. The controls are a little stale, but workable. The difficulty is good, altho an options for continue/difficulty be nice (ex: easy mode 200 HP 5lives a level, medium 100HP 3 lives a level, Hard 50 hp 1 life, just for an example)
While being able too aim in four directions is good, certain enemies almost require a diagonal shoot function, those bomber birds specifically. While it's not 'required' it would be useful (but it's a step above megaman so props there)
Graphics are pretty good, and THANK YOU for not resorting too a heroine with lots of cleavage, got enough of those, otherwise it was pretty good, as stated had a 'gunstar hero' feel too it, even the sound effects are from the game from time too time. Power ups are all there, flame, rocket, machine, spread, health, but try having it random for enemies instead of fixed placement (altho the fixed placement before the final boss was a nice touch)
Music was classic 8-bit, not bad, but not really memorable. I got down too the pace of it, but as soon as the song ended, I forgot it, kinda like a radio song.
For this too be a stand alone game, I would like too see maybe a 5th, possibly 6th stage, altho having 2-4 mid bosses for each level was fun, made the levels feel long, but not 'too' long. My only complints indeed would be this: fine tune the controls as jumping is slippery, music is ok, but can be improved, and add gameplay options, and if this does become a stand alone game, a second player would be great. If I could spare some cash (as it is X-mas) I would, maybe Ill get a larger paycheck, maybe not, but you definitely have my thumbs up for a well made game.
