Yep, it's done.

Second Wind, folks, Second Wind is here.

It's a witty blend of Text Adventure, Roguelike, and Sweet Simplicity.

All in all, there are 20 classes, three skills each, three major areas, four endings, countless monsters (as in, I'm too lazy to count them,) treasures, specialty shops, equips, weapons, and more.

Folks, this is one big game.

Also, there are medals, lots of em'

I sincerely dare you to beat the game on Nethack Difficulty.

And remember, dying is all a part of the experience :D

The last update was on October 21st, Version 1.57:

- Fixed up the Saiyan's awaken doing absolutely nothing.
- Fixed the broken meter glitch... Hopefully.
- The "explore" segment should run faster.
- And some other stuff I can't remember.

Send a PM with any additional problems and I'll get on them as soon as possible! <-- Now there's a wiki too!

Great game sir, I have just a few questions and comments.

First how do you get the best ending? I beat all the bosses first try and then the last boss, but I guess that's not it. It's bugging me x.x

Also, I must say, darkfolk are quite the OP class. As proof, I played nethack on a whim with my darkfolk and beat it first try, easily. Skipped right over medium difficulty as I don't have the medal for it.

Simple enough darkfolk setup for nethack:

Hope you survive the first few encounters since no health regeneration between rounds keeps you relying on luck to pick up a potion or two and a weapon upgrade.

From now on, only buy weapon upgrades and offerings at the speed altar. (explained below)

Do not buy any rune upgrades, only staff. Rune upgrades are pointless as I will show later.

Once you have the first staff upgrade, you can now 1shot anything with 30 hp with boom. At level 2 and 1 staff upgrade you can 1shot anything with 40 hp. Buying staff upgrades and leveling up will increase your damage enough to 1shot every enemy and boss till the end of the game.

The highest hp enemies in the game have 777 hp. So once you get the 20 mp staff you only need 40 power maximum to destroy anything in the game in one hit with boom.

Since you will be killing everything in the game in 1 shot you don't need rune upgrades since you won't ever be charging your mp. This frees money to spend on the speed altar which reduces armor. But you wont ever need armor since you kill everything in one hit. Dexterity, however is EXTREMELY important for the last world as almost everything is unhittable without high dex. I put it at around 85 before I go in to make sure I can hit everything 100%. (its probably a little too much but I have nothing else useful to put my money into.) Having some extra dex is good for the second world too so that you don't miss.

Missing at all, however, usually means death or a lot of wasted potions since you will only be recharging 2 mp at a time with your crappy starting rune. So just try to keep your dex at 30 or 40 going into the 2nd world and 85 into the 3rd.

So eventually your stats will look something like this
Dex 80
Pow 40
Arm -20

If you need to buy some power offerings early on to feel comfortable 1shotting the 120 hp wanderers or the 300 hp DM, feel free. Money is not that big of an issue since hp and armor are relatively useless. Easily the most OP build in the game.

I'll probably mess around more with builds on nethack later. Hopefully other people will find other viable builds for nethack but this one is hands down the best

This is a lovely game. I genuinely enjoyed the variety of enemies and the humorous text associated with most of them. I also enjoyed the shift in mood when reaching the third level - a purely humorous game would lack depth, but this one hints at thoughtfulness and personal insight. I have not yet attempted the Nethack Difficulty, but I look forward to it soon.

The variety and originality of the playable characters was also refreshing. Though among these, it seems that the Archer stands in a category of her own. I have unlocked most characters (not all, yet), and it seems that the Archer is the only one capable of replenishing her defence points - and, to top it off, to attack at the same time. This is important because it seems that winning a battle requires first destroying an enemy's set defence value before attacking HP. Of the playable characters I've unlocked and the enemies I've seen, none but the Archer had the ability to replenish defence. After offering a bit to Armon, the armour god, the Archer was nearly indestructible for as long as needed to pound away at other enemies' defence.

In other words, after moving to the second (green) level i took no damage except from counter-attacks, which were dealt by only a few enemy types. Defeating the major enemies at the end has so far been no problem whatsoever.

So, I will look forward to future development of this game, with the possible addition of new ranged classes (the Archer is the only one) and the addition of characters who can replenish defence (the Archer is the only one). At this point, the Archer stands in a character class truly of her own.

Now here's a helpful review!

As for the defense replenishing - the Warrior can do that as well, it's just he can't attack while doing so.

I've considered removing the Archer's defense bonus on "single shot" and replacing it with just a more accurate shot.

Though that means Archers become a heck of a lot more fragile.
