A young girl accidentally ends up in the ruins of a chess-themed city. She is immediately confronted with the hospitality of the remaining denizens but also gains a companion who is as eager as her to escape this place.

This movie was sort of an unpolished beta-version of the story I'm working on, made in 2012. Don't expect new episodes but rather a reboot!

Edit: Fun fact: I did everything with a half-dead mouse, just bought a tablet.

Well done! When you said that it wasn't as polished as you wished it would be, I wasn't expecting very much. But honestly, that's as polished as anything else I've seen, if not more. The animation was really decent, and the art of clean and stylish. My only problem with the piece was the sound. The voices weren't as clear as I thought they should be, and I found that some of the line phrasing spoken by the characters was kind of awkward.
Otherwise, good job! As mostly a viewer, you inspire me to get into animation.

With polished I actually meant things like less symbol manip and more frame by frame, or better backgrounds. Imagine how the movie would look if all backgrounds had been digitally painted outside of flash! I agree that the sound quality could be better, but overall I think we managed to reach the average voice quality of Newgrounds movies.

absolutely awesome. I'm not even gonna try to critique it, I am just not that good of an animator yet. love the concept, rarely used in a dark post apocalyptic scenery, and hope to see more.

Anyone can be a critic!

Very nice, looking forward to seeing more.

Really nice work. I found the intro a bit slow, even with the fact that you have to present a new world and logic. But from what ive seen so far this show has a bright future ahead of itself (Aslong as you keep at it and dont quit as with many other Ep1 videos).

kmau responds:

It's one of those episode 1 illnesses. Lotsa bla bla.

Im honestly glad to see this come out, i didn't expect it this soon tbh. From the pictures, i thought the Mad Hats would be a little bit more organized.
No offense but im kinda dissappointed, i know you normally do art but i was expecting a little more animation with characters. The voices i expected to be a little different; Bro wasn't that far off, Senry-- i wasn't expecting-- but now that i look at her it'd be really difficult to get a voice that'd exactly fit (also i was wondering what her first line was.. i can't make it out ._.)

Anyway, music was nice,
Voices were nice but they don't really seem capable of catching other emotions
The set-up for the story was pretty well done without being too clunky
Art nice (i didn't really like the constant gray; the first minute of it, everything was some shade of gray which is fine for a ruined city but it kinda sets the tone that everything from now on is going to be grayish or brownish and dull- well-what im trying to say is, there was a picture i think u created- of the city, and the neon lights were there an everything, idk i can't find it maybe i imagined it but ya, the only real break in color comes from the 'chess' sign and senry's hair imo, which was nice.

I know it will be a while befor Episode 2 to come out, even if nothing's changed i'll still enjoy the mess outta it. Im curious to see if there will be any fighting, i mean, i can imagine how bro would fight but not-so-much senry, least when it comes to the giant robots or transforming spider chess pieces.

Anyway, thanks for reading, sorry for wasting ur time, can't wait for episode 2
