So far, so good, but please change the jumps. Great graphics, music, and premise, but I'd like more levels, and more use of the hiding dynamic.

Absolutely awesome idea! But you should add a plot and try to make controls more easy. I had some problems about jumping.

If you really need to have "realistic" jumping, better go with something like first Castlevania (character jumps immediately, but you can't control him in mid air) rather than this.
Overall, not bad. Definitely deserves expanding, more levels, proper story, maybe some more methods of hiding (ducking behind smaller craters?) Hope you will decide to continue it, because it has potential.

1984 is one of my favorite books. You should really give it a try.

Some suggestions:

1° - Why a platformer? You could do better. If you believe a platformer is good, however, you could make it fast paced, like Nintendo "Alien" of "Jurassic Park". I'm sure it'd do great.

2° Sountrack and ambience. You made a nice visual ambience. Try to modify a little bit the design of some streets and machines to make it more believable and put on a soundtrack - I'd go for Industrial and Jazz for a mix of themes, but that's only my pick.
