Little Big Adventure 100 Points Complete the game!

Author Comments

I made this game for Ludum Dare 23 competition in under 48 hours. The theme for the games was "Tiny World".

Here is the game's Ludum Dare page, remove the spaces in the link so it will work:
www.ludumdare.com/compo/l udum-dare-23/?action=rate &uid=11391

Tiny Island Adventure tells us a story about young, girl mechanic Lydia, who once build her house on a floating island, but for her misfortune, it one night suddenly flew to the sky with her and her house on it!

Ever since she has been stuck high in the sky.. until one day another floating island appears next to hers. Lydia decides to explore the new island, in hopes that she could figure how to escape from the tiny floating islands.

Controls:

Use Arrow Keys to move, Z to Jump, Up arrow to enter doors.
Enter to advance text or start the game in main menu
P to pause, - and + to adjust sound and 0 to mute.
Esc to skip the intro.

Sequel is in the works, you can check out the new graphical style and Lydia's new tools in this alpha test ground demo:

So she just left everything?

I mean there still was a lot of metal on the floor when she built the plane, so she could make it bigger and take some stuff with her.

I mean she had a whole house and she just left it?

AdventureIslands responds:

New adventures await.

Then again, it's a plot of a game made in 48 hours.

Lovely concept, and great usage of the LD23 theme.

There's no telling how much I love games like these, involving exploration of the environment and discovering items and features that allow access to new areas, all while crossing through challenging sections and puzzles, kinda like Metroid or Zelda, but short and sweet.

I also like the minimalistic graphics and simple music, I think they go really well with the theme.

With all that said, I have to say I found the controls too slippery most of the time, and the fact that you can only get hit once only adds to the problem.

This is a great game, and as a jam made in 48 hours, it's pretty cool! Especially as your first jam, congrats.

All the jumping was pretty hard, also that you have over do whole the room when you fail!
But after some time I finally past it and I completed the game ^.^

This was my first 48 hour game jam game so it's pretty rough around the edges, but my later works like Shine have been much more polished jam entries.

This was made in only 48 hours? Amazing. The only detrimental thing was the controls and some of the mechanics. It was hard to keep Lydia from falling all the time (luckily there was no annoying death cry, nor did it take forever for the game to reload), and pushing objects was a bit difficult (to push a box, you could only slide it a little bit before it getting stuck. At that point you had to jump or walk away and come back to push it more). Other than that, it was cute and fun :)

My first jam game so it's a bit unpolished, and I learned a lot from making this. Glad you enjoyed it.
