If you are not new to this thing we call "the web", you have probably played this game before. I'm learning my way through classic games. My contribution to this game is my art and animation.
What's interresting is how all these games are just som few programming codes from each others. This game is just a few codes from "bejeweled" in it's basic form. Pong is breakout without bricks. Peggles is more or less an upside down breakout game.

Need sound
The idea isn't terribly new... but still what makes the game sound out is the almost cute blob shapes and the splashing effects...
And what it really need is sound effects in the very least... like a popping sound when the player removes blobs... and addition of bgm will be good too...
And if you can, try to improve the GUI of the game... like some minor tweaks here and there, more visually appealing button (and interface)... For example the options button you have down there couldn't have been more bland and un-noticable...
And add a good backdrop...

Good, but could be better.
Like you mentioned in your description, this game isn't terribly unique. However, it still managed to be mildly entertaining. I like the look of the blocks, and the "splashes" were cool. The lack of sound really takes away from this game, in my opinion. Not bad, but next time, please try to add a little something to make your game special. Good job.
