One Chance is a game about choices and dealing with them.
Scientist John Pilgrim and his team have accidently created a pathogen that is killing all living cells on Earth.
In the last 6 remaining in-game days on Earth, the player must make choices about how to spend his last moments. Will he spend time with his family, work on a cure or go nuts?
....is something you have for your game here.
I never cheated on the game and died. Whoopsie probably shouldnt have celebrated on that first day. But still, the fact that you do not have a way to propperly repeat the game is awesome. I can relate to how you dont want people going back and getting other endings because they dont like the endings they got. I respect you for this. Would I like another play at this game? Of course but thats not going to happen sadly...
I also agree with the person a couple posts down about how in life you get only one chance, nothing more. Of course knowing there is no replay button, it makes you think carefully. But most of these players dont understand that even though its right in the title of the game.
That said and done good game.
Glitch, but good.
On the 4th day, 2 days before everyone on planet earth dies, if you go outside and back into the house to stay home, the game glitches, and you're taken back to the preloader screen, free to play all over from the beginning again. Otherwise, fantastic game.
Storyline lacking. -1. Unable to explore all storylines due to lack of replay button. -1. Being an asshole and not giving a replay button. -1. Person moves slower than shit. -1. The fact that you ultimately can't prevent me from replaying the game through other means, thus your stupid gimmick proves futile. -1. I got the best ending though. At least I presume it is. Unless there are multiple ways to find a cure. I found a cure, and I'm guessing that's the only ending with a cure, and it sucks. Why? Not because a lot of people died or the wife died or the friends, but because you just cut it off right away. I find the cure, and the next thing I know, I'm sitting in the park with my daughter. Yay for me. But what about the rest of the world? Aren't you going to tell me what happened? I wanna see what's left of the world. What can be salvaged now that the world is saved? I don't get to know? I'm just stuck at the park, unable to input in any way? Lame.
but atleast I got laid
Well I must say this is one beautiful game you have made here, that 'One Chance' is VERY synonymous to life and really drives the point home that "YOU ONLY HAVE ONE LIFE! DON'T SCREW UP!" When I finished the game, (and OBVIOUSLY got a bad ending.) I tried to play again... only to get a persistent screen of the Main character dying at work... saddened me very much (And this is one of the VERY RARE games to make me feel a significant HINT of sadness.) However...
I PLAY TO WIN! And of course cheated (destroying the whole point of the game with it, sorry.) and got most of the endings. (I refuse to cheat on the wife.) However, after playing all those endings... I realize that, surviving may not have been the best ending in hindsight. Yes, you do survive, but what's the point, the world around you is dying and you are alive just watching it all. There are presumably no humans left and everything else is dead and/or dying. And from what I see it's too late to administer the cure to anyone who had survived. You would be left in a barren world with just you (*SPOILER!* and your daughter.) and you all are going to die anyway. Yes, it's a happy ending FOR THE GAME! (See what I did there?), but when Fridge Logic kicks in... not so happy now, huh? (*SPOILER AGAIN!* And NO ONE MENTION THE SQUICK FACTOR OF THEM BEING THE ONLY TWO LEFT! I'm NOT having it, don't think about it too much.)
All in all, this was a very interesting game. Music, was PERFECT for the setting, (although the first day should have been a bit more cheerful, THEN drop the main theme the next day, when the bad news (UNDERSTATEMENT) abounds. Gameplay was pretty linear (Gee thanks captain obvious. -.-) but it is okay for this game. We all know how the storyline goes, simple, sweet, heartrending. A bit bland though but I can overlook that.
All in all, I'm giving this a nine because I enjoyed the storyline and the game got me hooked finding a way to end it on a good note (so I can be able to sleep well tonight.)
Also, I think if you get the good ending you should have special music, something like "This is your Life." By Switchfoot, but meh, that's just me.
And now time to end this quite lengthy review (My longest one ever.) with... IMHO!
There is no game. Trust me. DO NOT PLAY!
