Hello! This is my third flash game. Exciting times! I decided to go for something more ambitious this time around, a turn-based multiplayer game. There aren't enough multiplayer games in flash, that are online, that do the medium justice. Now, I'm not saying that Quintarow Online does, but it's at least a step in the right direction.

Many Flash developers may be surprised to hear that I didn't use PlayerIO to handle the networking, instead, I used the new Lacewing flash networking library. It's really cool, you should check it out. I wrote my own server with the Python implementation of Lacewing (pyLacewing) and I'm running that from my own little server box.

The game itself was written in just over four days, and I used Multimedia Fusion 2 Developer as the development tool with the Flash Exporter. It really does make development easy. Clickteam, who make this software, actually were kind enough to sponsor it, which does help server costs. Thank you Mr Clickteam!

I hope you enjoy the game.

Simple but Fun

Here is a game that takes a real basic concept and runs with it, The only downside being having to wait for other users to play and the very simplistic nature of the game makes it a bit boring after a while, perhaps you could randomly place stones on the board to make the placement process a bit more challenging, or put a bit of a othello spin on it by making some of the moves remove players placements.

Love the online play with in a MMF made Flash app!

All of that is really great and everything but....

....How do you play the game? Besides waiting for over 15 minutes while the opponent matching was taking place, I did absolutely nothing. Twiddling my fingers was about it. Instead of waiting, possibly make a 1 player version of your puzzle game for everyone to learn how to play first, and then allow for multiplayer choice second. Not everyone has 5-10-15-20 minutes to spare to be matched up to play the game, nor will everyone wait that long just for someone else to join in to play a multiplayer game.

I really wished i could've got a chance to play it because I love puzzle games. I can't give stars because I haven't played the game, but that's my feelings.

Maybe another time. :)
