The band "The Arkhams" commissioned me very nearly two years ago to do a cartoon for one of their instrumentals, which I can finally upload now that their new album is coming! It was described to me as "us in a bunch of old-timey kid's sailor suits fighting hordes of Lovecraftian monsters at a beach." Besides the #1 Dad (one of their own in-jokes) and some monsters from the Cthulhu Mythos, I designed all the other creatures you'll be seeing. This was my first time doing so much action and movement, much less a music video, and in the time since completing it I've learned to animate at least a little better, so keep in mind it's a bit LATE to critique this. Just let me know if you liked anything! I already know I could have relied less on tweens and symbols.

Love all the random sh*t
I wasn't going to offer a critique anyway. i thought the whole thing was awesome, the monster were very good, as ever and i love all the random sh*t. chopping the monsters in half with a giant Penny-farthing:)
most importantly for a music video though, the animation worked really well with the sound track.

That was pretty badass!
Jonathan, I have to admit, you have never disappointed me one bit. Plus, it also helps that I happen to be a fan of your website for years. For something that was made over two years ago, you did a great job. Now, here's my review...
When it comes to art and animation, I like how you chose a late twenties cartoon style and mixed it with your crazy monster designs, along with selective coloring. (A trait shared with Madness Combat, Kong, and Blanco y Negro.) In addition, for a first attempt at doing something much more intense than your Fear Hole cartoons; you did a great job on the animation. It may not be up to par with Adam Phillips, but still got the point across. Musicwise, it was pretty nice of the Arkhams to let you use one of their songs for this, and they did a great job with it. Nothing else to say there. Last, but not least, the content, which I loved. Your direction for this fit the excellent mold quite well with careful angle selections, great pacing, and top-notch planning with your collaborators. Kudos for the Ghostbusters reference near the end. I bet if you keep practicing and studied the right animation material; you'll have a masterpiece someday.
What I did like:
-Clever direction
-Great music
-Nice mix of aesthetics
-Above-average animation
-Underused subject
What I didn't like:
-No replay button or preloader, but I won't knock you down this time.
