Epic War 4 features 5 unique heroes with unique combat ability. Battle through 12 stages with 3 different modes (normal, hard, epic), and 4 extra stages for additional challenges. Experiment with 5 levels of 20 different units and 12 unique spells, and fight your way through 4 epic bosses and surprising stages for hours in this epic defense game.

Game Control :
- left and right arrow to move camera stage
- a to select all, s to select all hero, d to select all units
- 1-6 hotkeys for spell
- qwertyuio hotkeys for units
- space bar to confirm units / spells placement
- p to pause
- go to option page at map to mute
- revenge waves can be found at hard and epic mode
- up and down arrow keys to move the turret
if you feel the game doesnt require skill, try hard and epic mode.

Same old Same Old

Being a long term newgrounds lurker, I never write reviews but I felt that one was warranted for this game.

I've played all of the Epic War games, beaten them, enjoyed them, yet with each "sequel", if you could call them that, it seems the gameplay doesn't improve, instead you are faced with the exact same "Mission" to conquer or rid the lands, with the same units (Or different units that do the exact same thing)

On top of that some units are still better than others, even with this new "Weakness or Strength" factor that's been implemented. When I say this, I am referring to any Unit thats attack causes the opponent to be launched up in the air, stunned, pushed back, or even interrupted.

Epic War also has a tendency to be Laggy, I run a high-end computer but even with this game (On Low Quality might I add) the slow paced units come to a snails pace.

You have an ideal game concept, but you need to perfect it.

()Tone down the Attack Animation waiting period

()Put some restraint on "Launch in the air" attacks, it's not appealing to watch a 50 unit team be beaten down by 2-6 suicide rats, this wastes the players time.

() Titans? While I enjoy the whole "lets fight the super-ultra-mighty unit" philosophy, it has to have an ending point. It took me at least thirty minutes to defeat the Trojan Horse looking titan, due to the fact that it kept whipping up my units with tornados, Suicide rats and various other combinations.

() Try to incorperate the gameplay from EW3. I prefer Epic War 3 over 4, due to the more dynamic hero choice and monster choice. It just seems like you waste so much (time) gold to buy up the monster-tree to obtain what you want, only to have to spend 19,000 gold to achieve rank 2.

Like the concept

But these attack animations are killing me. Watching a hero unit engage in a 6 second attack sequence to get stunned, knocked back, or have the enemy withdraw from range is a bit annoying. (many eye rolls playing)

not bad, but...

game is a bit laggy and slow, when comes and army. there could be quality buttons in options menu. and when you complete about 10 levels, its getting boring and much harder

A boring grind.

At best, the game mechanic was unoriginal, buggy, and static. The game was just rehash of the previous epic war games, and this sequel failed to address the major problems of its predecessors. I found the battles tediously boring and easy. Waiting for a bunch of troops to line up is not the best way to spend an evening. The graphics were bland and reused, and the animations were without effort. The plot was bland, unmotivating, and nearly nonexistent; aside from the advocacy of war. I didn't understand the necessity to have both a 'retreat' and 'fall back' button, or the 'march' and 'assault' commands. To me, I could not detect any major differences. I also noticed that the commands would often fail to respond.

The most off-putting detail of this game was the blatant glorification of war and militarism. While I do not mind a game with violence, the political messages were disturbing and unwarranted. As far as I could tell, the object of the game was to go smash an "oppressive" force that had the ability to put an end to the rabid militarism of the land, and the player's character is too committed to bloodshed because "War is life."

I would like to have seen a major effort in improvements to the gameplay. Make it more streamlined, less grind-y, and utilize strategy. Add another gameplay dynamic besides "make guys and send guys forward." Fix the command buttons. And most of all, remove the political overtones.
