It's a year old but several people have convinced me to upload this to NG. This was my first big undertaking in flash animation. It's based heavily on a dream I had that was caused by a long day of playing NES, SNES, and Genesis. A lot of the animation is true to the dream with a few changes to keep it interesting.
In the dream I was moving through different levels from many games. In each level the music was wrong and my sprite (while fitting the bit style) didn't quite work with the game. During the dream I was abusing a cheat ability to use different weapons from pretty much any game (of the same bit type) I wanted at any time. The game itself behaved as it should, with my actions being the only aberration. So basically a retro video game mashup and tribute.
I wanted it to look as "real" as possible, as if it was actually happening in the games. Everything looks, animates, behaves and moves as close to the real thing as I could manage. Thanks go out to my friends and a HUGE thanks to my girlfriend for putting up with me during the creation of this soul crusher. I love you.

This is my favorite flash on Newgrounds, I saw it last year. (Or the year before that?) The sound quality, animation and idea are all great. This reminds me of how charming 8-16 bit video games can be.

The reason I gave a 5 is well...you mixed several retro games into one, epic, juicy idea. It was creative and I liked that you mixed the GOOD games.

Since it's based on a dream
Then I have no doubt in mind that this is a dream best left to be expressed about, keeping the idea of retro video gaming alive, sharing the dream to both retro fanatics and new time gamers alike.
Somethings in life are best worth looking back at, retro video gaming is one of those things.

Very good animation!
I remember reviewing this on an older account, and I've been trying to find it for a while, finally!! What I like about a video like this, is that you you don't even have to have played these games to enjoy this movie. But with knowledge of all the references, it makes the video that much more enjoyable and nostalgic. Great job.
