Jupp, I decided to make a 3D game from scratch, that means engine and everything, and I succeeded (obviously)

My good buddy Lennart contributed ALOT to this game, among other things he made the music and sound controllers, the menu music, everything that even resembles a menu, the internet minisite http://www.atomicdefender .com including the instructions.


Use [ARROWS] or [A],[W],[S],[D] for movement, use the [MOUSE] for turning, aiming and shooting (this was the best solution I could come up with). [P] for pause. You will be able to choose new weapons two times, first after 7 kills then after another 30 kills. Try to get as many kills as possible, personal best is around 100 kills ;)

Very well done!

Very well made. it's the first 3-D game i've played on newgrounds besides the crappy DOOM remake.

1. I found it difficult to target my opponents
2. Congrats to you for creating an engine for this sort of game
3. I also noticed that of you put your mouse on any side of the screen it rotated too much... i would suggest a crosshair that moves with the mouse instead of the scrolling screen. (Note): If you decide to use this idea please put in a pause menu and make it possible to move your mouse out of the screen.

4. I actually found this one quite funny....BUT! you shouldn't insult people for killing only 5 enemies lol "That sucks".
5. The graphics ARE good but i think they could be worked on quite a bit.
6. I was joking about #4 you should really try to insult people more Haha.

good qualities

Im rather biased, being involved with the development of this game. Therefore i will vote a neutral score.

However i would like to point out a few things:

1. This game is the first version in a series of games that will be based on this engine. Each game will improve on the last, and will introduce new game modes and plots. That means that you can CONTRIBUTE your ideas by giving comments here.

2. The game captures a retro feeling that is rarely seen in flash games now adays. AND its a 3D game! In other words, this game is rather unique.

3. Its next to impossible to create an immersive 3d game in flash. I feel that Bodhi was suprisingly successful in his first attempt. There are really difficult limitations to overcome as a developer, mainly that you only have absolute mouse coordinates (as opposed to relative). In addition to the more obvious performance limitations of the flash player.

Not bad.. not bad at all

Well... from scratch! Thats cool! Well anyway these are the things that should be added to the game:

Your tank is visible- lets you control better
More upgrades, yes, a lot more upgrades!
Add sky. It boring without one.

Anyway the game is not really addictive but its fun. The reason why i never complained about the ground disappearing is because about 99% of action fighting games using the WASD controls have this problem. Even big, big games also have this problem. So a smaller game with this problem is not such a big deal.

Thats is AWESOME!
It needs a cross hair though, and the width could stand to be wider.
But otherwise amazing job.
Keep up the good work. 5/5 10/10
