"Still too advanced"

This is like most of the flash tutorials. Many of the art sections are very advanced. you show in frame by frame on how to animate explosions and blood effects but both art works are quite heavy. You should start with a simple explosive effect (for example, a tweening circle) and work with that to show how to create an explosive, then start with a scratch. Similarly with the blood effects, although that's a bit easier as it's merely lines and circles sprouting and then falling due to gravity.
You didn't really go in depth with Action Script. Can't really blame you. I have no idea how that thing works. No matter what I type it, even if it's copy and pasted, there's always an error. My animations reached a limit because of that.
As I said, most tutorials are very reliant on 'you can already do this' or 'you have your own art style, so just do these effects' which makes beginners very hard to grab the concept of. The Big Fat Tutorial is to my opinion, the best tutorial and most helpful. And there is a reason for it. The artwork is ridiculously copyable, yet you can do things to it to create your own art.
Please, think of the people who have absolutely no idea about what flash is other than entertainment.

Author's Response:
I completely agree with you. That didn't really occur to me while making this. So next time I make a tut, I'll make sure to go into more depth and go through smaller aspects of drawing and flash before I start doing step by step images.
