Here is its eulogy, a collection of the kind words written about it while still among the living. They shall live on forever in its place.

Part 1: The Goldwin Betrayal
1-A

Author's Notes: PLEASE READ BEFORE VIEWING...

UPDATE:

Someone mentioned a comment about the music not being streamed. The thing is it actually is streamed, the reason it's treated as an event is because it is in movie clip form. The reason this was done was to get rid of any sound delays. Anyone who has worked with flash and made reasonably sound dependable movies knows of this problem.

The first thing I will address is the fact that this movie is split into two parts. Part 1-A and Part 1-B. This was NOT intentional. Originally, I had it as one full movie. Unfortunately, Flash can only play up to 16000 frames and mine was longer so I was forced to cut it. I tried to make the cut for Part 1-A at somewhat of a cliffhanger so people would go right to Part 1-B.

Anyway, this is a project I started working on in June of 2007 and just recently was able to finish. I worked VERY hard on this so I hope you guys enjoy it.

Next thing, I'll address the first thing that will be on alot of people's minds:
Why don't you use voices?...well, here is all my reasoning:

On a simple note, the character design does not include mouths. Some may say "why not include mouths?" I did some testing with mouths and it really just kind of destroys the separate originality that the characters fall into. Even with that, I DID make some attempts to find some voice actors just to test out how it would make the movie feel. I'm sorry to say I didn't care much for any of the voices I heard. Even with that, this is a very dialogue driven series and I almost kind of like the fact that it requires the viewer to pay attention. I guarantee this movie will make no sense unless you follow along so if you're looking for a typical action flash that gets right into it, either don't watch this or just skip to Part 1-B (which I wouldn't recommend doing if you care about story). I could go on about how I decided against voice overs, but I don't think it will change certain people's minds. If it bothers those people that much, just simply don't watch it.

As for the story itself:

This is a completely new and different story than my older flash submissions (although it wouldn't hurt to check them out before viewing this) so I put alot more time into the story that surrounds the action rather than the action that surrounds the story. I wanted the viewer to know why these characters do the things they do and how it affects the people around them. I wanted people to have a much more dynamic view of how the story takes place.

I see that a new Angry Dog was submitted today so I won't set my hopes too high. However, I do hope to see this at least make front page in top 5 or 10, but that's up to you guys to decide. So please...enjoy the movie. I really hope everyone likes it.

Reviews

Here's a few things I found wrong with it.
It is a good flash but it could be so much better!

The speech bubbles... I know you are looking for voice actors (which isn't bad) but for now, I'd rather have a button you can click whenever I am done reading the bubbles.
At times, the text goes by too fast, and I can't read the entire thing.

The screen is too small. Flash is a "lined" program rather than a pixel program, so you can set the screen size anything you want without it getting fuzzy. It also makes it harder to read the text.

I don't mind the detailed backgrounds, but you don't need too much detail when it comes to backgrounds, or at least that's what I think because no one is going to notice.

The movement in the characters we ok, but it wasn't animated too well :p

Last thing I noticed, the sound wasn't set on stream! That's buggy XP

because most people won't bother to finish it. you said that having the talk bubbles makes the view pay attention... i think its the opposite. when some of the text goes by too fast to read and/or you can't read it at all, its not captivating and the people won't want to read more and they won't know the story... however good it really is.

i think your attempt at making it movie like was only in vain. the focus changes weren't very successful in the sense that the radial fill doesn't blur well. the screen was too small (which goes with not being able to read the text). all the detail that you spent in the backgrounds was useless if you couldn't see it and the people and there movements were sad excuses for animation and epecially with as much time as you claim you spent on it. i would suggest spending some time on good quality characters (not floating hands, feet, and a circle with dots for a face) and just make it a click for the next page comic thing with music that will loop for different pages.
speaking of sound. you put the sound on the wrong mode! its supposed to be on stream so that when you pause it will stop the music as well as animation. right when that messed up the whole thing, i just gave up watching, it wasn't worth it.

2/5 regardless of how long it is or how good of a story it is, its not that great.
i hope i got to everything i was thinking of.

crepth

but it can be improved if you had some way or fast forwarding and rewinding cuz it really sucks if the video was interrupted int he middle and you have to watch it all over again.

Was that counterstrike sounds I heard?

Whilst having a strong and very well written story, and fairly good animation, your artwork was substandard. It wasn't bad enough to entirely kill the movie, but it did decrease the atmosphere somewhat, you could easily keep the same style of character, just add more detail, and some proper flesh tones would be nice for their faces. The lack of voice acting wasn't too much of a problem, but i'd recomend subtitles at the bottom of the screen, possbly with a small picture of the characters face next to it, so people wouldn't get confused as to who's speaking; this, combined with better graphics would give you a definite winner of a movie.

It was really pretty deep stuff. The animation was pretty good, and the music really created the right atmosphere. The only problems are that while the speech bubbles served decently, I really wish you would reconsider voice actors in the future, and it needs a replay button.
