It's certainly better than the old one. The humour was better but it was poorly executed. How so? It lacks impact. No explosions, no blood, no loud startling sounds. It really needed the impact, but it wasn't there. The portal turned out to be a good recurring gag. On the bad side (again), the music doesn't fit well, the sound effects are bad, and Mario's walkcycle is missing a frame.
Damn I had a faulty sprite sheet. :O

Umm. I think that was a hole in the ground created by the bullet explosion
