A poem about a solitary man who's careless, wasteful life comes into his own question one fateful Halloween night. Please review!

This is a poem I wrote & animated with what I call an "unclean style" of animation. Basically, no (well, very FEW) defined lines to show the unclean, filthy world the main character lives in and I also wanted to make it seem more like a book coming alive, so no lip-syncing either.

Flash 8 is required to view. I also respond to all constructive reviews. I'd also LOVE to see this added to the Halloween '06 collection as this is my entry for it.

Enjoy!

Stats: 20fps, 9390 TOTAL frames (including full credits), 6165 frames for the movie = 5:14, 22 hours of work, mouse-drawn.

YOU ARE THE WINNER!

The Raven

Loved it, loved the "The Raven"-esque spin of it, reminded me of the first Halloween Special with The Simpsons, and indeed that I saw Danny Elfman under Additional Audio, set me in the mood for it. Technically it was adequate, the flash was good but not perfect, the audio was good but not perfect, although the script was better than most flashes. I can see you've poured some artistic qualities into the flash, and it payed off. Good one, Jason.

RSQViper responds:

Thanks for the review, man. I had a short timeline and had to make it in about a day to get it out for Halloween.

Glad you liked it!

EXCELLENT

It was an excellent story, containing a thin veil of innocence, with a dark and gruesome core!

RSQViper responds:

Awesome. So glad you were able to find this and enjoyed it.

Nice!

I liked it pretty much,
there's one thing you might consider next time, though, and that might be an option for subtitles. The voice was clear enough for me to understand, but subtitles generally help non-native english speakers extremly.

RSQViper responds:

I use them only when necessary because of the video cam I use in my movies. They really become a pain in the ass, to be honest.

Also, when something has subtitles in it, I always find myself reading and not watching, so they can be pretty distracting and I didn't want that in this movie. As for the non-english speaking folks, they'll just have to listen harder because I don't feel like putting in 2 or more extra hours for a hand full of people in all my movies.

Thanks for the constructive review!

genious

i loved the poem. and the animation with it seemed like you just wanted to save time and get on with it, but i still liked it. and i liked the choice of music. danny elfman happens to be one of my favorites.

i liked it. =]

RSQViper responds:

Yeah, I kinda did want to just get on with it. Mainly because hte poem just kind of "came to me" a couple days before Haloween and I really wanted to release it for Haloween. Hopefully I did it in a way that people can enjoy it and get into the poem.

Thanks for liking it and reviewing!
