This tutorial ain't bad, although there's a few tutorials out there that go through the same basics of getting a sprite and arranging it into a movieclip.
One suggestion though, I tried out the same sprite sheet, and I believe you used the 3 sprites in reverse. Your animation kinda looks like he's running backwards,maybe it's just me. But I reversed it and it looked correct to me.
Perhaps make a tutorial that takes things further and involved actionscript to allow user control of the sprite?

i have a problem with my sprites my mario sprites
when i use then in flash they look normal and fine but when i crtl-enter to test movie the mario sprites looks crappy and has a bit of blue around the edges

wtf is happening my other sprites are fine help plz
