Programmed by Tom Fulp, this game is like Atari on acid!

S KEY = MEGA CANNON (must try this!)

Your shield absorbs enemy life to raise your own health. The more you charge your shield, the bigger the impact!

Also, your Mega Cannon is enhanced when you have a fully charged shield!

The Captain Low-Rez series originally appeared on Newgrounds in January of 2001, but was never submitted via the Portal. It is in the process of being moved into the Portal system, for consistency.

Make it LONGER!

It was a little too short, but very good.

nope. another failure

well.. since you've made a classic game theme i give you props for that because classic games kick ass.. however, the game was below average. the shield thing has to be more sensitive because i was pressing down sometimes and it wouldnt let me shield. the enemies could have been spiffed up a bit as far as movement too.

plus that warning thing at the end of level one pissed me off to an enormous extent.. so i just quit.. the way i see it, if a game doesnt catch my attention within the first 2 mins.. i'm gone..

but hey.. i guess this game DOES have some potential because shooting games are very popular and fun.. and because it was a good idea to make a classic game

Holy friggin crap that was freaking awesome,i beat the whole game 4 times....4! it was cool...i like the last boss alot...but i think the happytron was better. he just had happiness, and thats cool. yeah, that big freaking laser cannon thing, yeah,i think you should take that away,it was hella fun,but i don't think its fair for the lil spaceships that are getting owned by it,espacially when you have a full damper charge....whew...a beam of red annihilating doom, evaporating doomed souls into radioactive vapor, then the ashes are sucked away into the icy blackness of space, what could be better? i'll tell ya what, nothing is better. hands down. best game that i have played online,EVER. w00t! All my five are belong to this! p.s. : PLEASE!!!!!! PLEASE!!!! MAKE ANOTHER GAME PLEASE!!!!!!! I WILL PAY YOU MONEH!!!!!!!!

Lol, after that I felt like dancing, too.

This game was awesome in every aspect. The shield feature was the most interesting, though. With low power, it does a little shield thing, medium power, a blast, and high power, it does a giant radius of plasma (or lazer or something) and absorbs the enimies into your health.

The mega canon was truely spectacular though. I never thought I'd be commenting a low pixel game for having great special effects, but here I am. The regular mega canon was cool. But when you double it with a full bar of shield power, WOW! That's plain awesome. It covers the entire screen, then shrinks and multiplies into four! That's just plain cool.

The gameplay was good, too. The enemies sometimes explode on you and drop your health, makes sense. The coding was just good, simply put. Also, it's nice to have a reminder to absorb alien health when your suply is low. Nice touch.

In any sense, this game was just awesome. And maybe in a couple months, I'll look back to my favorite submissions list and play it again.

PS: Did I see a hint of Alien Hominid for consoles at the last bost with the lazers? I though that the 2nd part of 3-5 was a lot like the giant ship at the end of Capt. Low-Rez. Well, you made both, your choice. :D (AH is great, btw, only missing one hat)
