Well then I guess it was a case of mistaken convinctions since Bowser DIDN'T "kill" Mario. Alright, here's my redone version of the story since I now know the truth. (SPOILERS!!!) Wart captured Mario and wanted to cause discourage among the Mushroom Kingdom since they'd think their hero'd be dead, making him able to take it over and become King of the Mushroom Kingdom. However, HIS plan backfired, but not in the way you'd think. Since Bowser was the one who usually caused trouble, they attacked him instead. Even though, he wasn't the one who "killed" Mario. Thus, ending in this.

Now for the review. My standing on this is pretty much the exact thing as the last with one minor detail. That fight scene was fucking epic.
